Welcome to AA Reunion in Bristol

We mark the first European Convention of Alcoholics Anonymous in 1971 with annual Reunions

Bill’s declared purpose of A.A. gatherings

“I think it is the common purpose of every state or regional gathering in A.A. to exchange experience new and old, to inspire all attending with a bigger vision of A.A.'s way of life, to ensure our unity, regionally and worldwide, and to create news of A.A. that can be printed and told by our good friends of the Press and of all communications, thus doing much to carry A.A.'s message to the many who still suffer from alcoholism and all its attendant ills.”

Clancy is coming!

Please help celebrate his 50 years of sobriety 17-19 October 2008 in Bristol

‘Nympsfield’, also known as the Marist Centre, is a retreat house on top of the Cotswolds. It has been a spiritual home to recovering alcoholics for over twenty years.

It was where Joe and Charlie and the Big Book Study first came to England, at Easter time 1989. The following year they came to Bristol and every other year thereafter till their last one in Bristol in October 1999.

As Joe travelled less and less, Charlie continued giving Big Book Studies with the assistance of another Joe, though they never came back to Bristol.

A few years ago, we invited Joe’s principal sponsee, Larry G, to come across and put his toe in the water with a one day Study. This was followed with Big Book Studies at the Reunion in Bristol over a two or three year period on alternate years with Clancy who is coming to Bristol in October.

Last year Larry came to Nympsfield for a weekend which was so well subscribed that we decided to offer 2 Nympsfield weekends with Larry this year.

Accommodation at Nympsfield is very comfortable and mostly shared; though there are some singles. Meals are prepared and presented by a member of the host group, Newcomers. The weekend starts with supper at 6.30 p.m. on Friday and is followed by the first session of the Big Book Study presented by Larry. The Big Book Study goes on over the weekend and it finishes on Sunday after Lunch!

Bearing in mind that Joe went to the Big Meeting last October, we are dedicating these weekends to his memory, for without Joe and without Charlie our understanding of our programme would be sadly limited.
